Originally posted on my review blog: www.bunnycates.com/reading Recommendable for people who: enjoy action, paranormal, werewolves, fairytalesI was so excited to finally get a copy of this (my reading updates on goodreads)! I ordered it, and only AFTER did I realized that I had ordered from a shop in the UK. It took for EVER to finally show up! I loved the take on Little Red Riding hood. It was so different, and original. I loved that the girls kicked butt! I thought Scarlet was a little “hard” and maybe even selfish, so she kind of got on my nerves. BUT, she kicked the best butt so I could totally look past it. LOL!! I could have done without the romance, but I understand that the romance was half of the storyline, so it kind of had to be there. Even with those two “issues” I still loved this book, and plan on reading it again. Yea, I liked it THAT much.PS: I think Jackson Pearce is funny and amazing. If you haven’t checked out her YOUTUBE you should totally give it a glance. =)
Good read. The story was interesting, though the language took some getting used to. I did eventually get out my dictionary. lolComparatively, IMO, it was not as good as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but I did still enjoy it and would recommend it to my vampy loving friends. :)
I had a bit of a hard time getting into this one. Though, Im certain is was "life" and not the books fault. Took me all month to read. Im a little let down on the the whole "wrapping it all up". Counted pages to see if I'd skipped a chapter somehow...
Excellent story. Surprised I enjoyed it so much, and looking forward to picking up another Reichs book!
This book was definitely and interesting read. Reading exactly how my cousin died broke my heart, and I really wish they hadn't put the photos in of her. Im sure that is just a personal reaction though and has no bearing on the readability of this book. The book promises an in depth look at the beginning of forensics, and it delivers just that. Definitely interesting.
Original Review post on my site at www.bunnycates.com/readingI’ve been sitting here about 15 minute trying to decide how to start this review. lol. You see, much to my surprise I absolutely LOVED this book. That seems simple enough to say, right? Then problem then becomes how much do I include to show you WHY I loved it. If I tell you all my favorite bits, will it be “spoiling” the book for you? Ugh. You guys are killing me! lol! When I was browsing the book shelves in my favorite Aunts house, desperate to find something for my book club pick, she handed me her copy of the Help. I, being a horror lover by design, shriveled my nose and tried to hand it back to her. “Just read it…” she says “you’ll love it, I know YOU will.” and she made this kind of cuckoo face. You know, the eyebrows went up and a head nod was included for effect. Like there was some kind of inside joke we were in on, only I WASN’T “in” on it. LOL. I love my Auntie though, and I swear if you knew her you would too, so I put the book on my take home stack not feeling a bit of eagerness to begin the journey through it’s pages. I grudgingly began my journey around 7pm on January 4th. I closed the book, already missing my friends, the morning of January 6th. That’s how I feel too. I am sad I read it so fast. I miss my friends. Stockett did an amazing job of character development. Skeeter, who I think if she were a real person very well could have become my best friend. Mrs Aibileen, bless her heart, such a caring soul. Everyone’s memaw. I really could just hug on to her and never let go. And then Minny. Oh my word. Can I just say if I had been a black maid in Mississippi *did I spell that right? emm eye crooked letter cooked letter..oh hell* in 1962, I would have BEEN Minny! I love her. I want Minny to have her own book. And a tv show. haha. The book is so well written. There is a gradual build and a fantastic climax. I always say a good book is like sex… and without the climax, well, the rest of it is just a bunch of work. I hated ole “two slice Hilly”, and LAUGHED OUT LOUD when she finally got her ‘”just desserts”. I wanted to save lil MaeMo, and raise her as my own. I wanted to hug Mrs Celia, and just be there for her. I wanted to high five Skeeter, and tell her how much I admired her! This book was, in my humble opinion… just awesome. I laughed, I cried, and now I miss my storybook friends.
This book is so entertaining and sweet. There are such moments of tenderness and humor. Can't wait for my little one to sit down and read it, I know she will like it as I did. I have to remember to not tell her it made me cry. Just a little. :)
**NOTE** Ok, so I was already teary eyed when I got the RAK because that is so sweet. And I tried reallly hard to not open them yet so I could do it on camera. But I couldnt. This has been on my wishlist since it CAME OUT! I totally cried a little just now. Such an awesome RAK. I love it so much! I feel so blessed for all of my internet friends, I am just beside myself.
This book was written as a series of journal entries with postscripts. I found it both entertaining and enlightening{in a manner}. Interesting for sure. I did read it in one afternoon. At first, I thought perhaps it a ya reader, due to its size and the size of print, but I am not sure that was the intended audience. I don't know that I would reccommend it to anyone to read, unless they just "liked" reading everything written on vampires. It was neither a huge tale, nor gory, nor romantic. It was a "journaled" account from Van Helsing's pov. published, after the fact. Though i do not reccommend it, I do not regret spending an entire afternoon within it's pages either, so take that for what you will.
I thought this book was cute. I do think it is a little under my 9 year old's reading level, however it is entertaining so that would make up for it. ;)I love how Lemony uses larger words, and then takes the time to work in the definition of the word for the younger readers. At first, was not fond of it, as I felt like he was talking to me like I was stupid. And then I realized by him doing that, he was making the book personal and I FELT LIKE he was talking to (writing) specifically to ME. It made me appreciate it. LOL.I only gave it 3 stars because it is a childs book, I am a grown up. What would people say if I gave it 4. haha.
